REVEREND JOHN ROWLAND FUND

The PCC discussed the idea of a permanent memorial for the life of  John, a much loved and respected Vicar of this Parish.
It has been agreed that John would have wished to have a “living memorial” rather than a static one in the form of a fund in John’s name to be used to support local people attending Bible training, children and teens attending Christian summer camps, where they receive Bible Study and for similar training, (e.g. potential Lay Readers etc.) PCC members will personally make donations to start the fund and are inviting members of the congregation, businesses and the community in general and other Christian based organisations to join in keeping John’s memory alive by donating to his “Living Memorial”

ST. LUKE’S ANNIVERSARY PLANS:
As this is the 10th Anniversary year since St. Luke’s Church was built, a series of events is being planned for
October this year, which will include three concerts. The format has been set and the musicians booked for what will be an varied and entertaining programme.
There will also be  a Church service of praise and thanksgiving.
Concert on 10th November, close to Remembrance Day, for the Poppy Appeal.  This will be a very special night, featuring a wonderful singing group “One Accord”, who are performing with the”Military Wives Choir” at Dartington in the summer.
Please continue to hold St. Luke’s Church in your prayers during this time of change and looking towards the future. Please pray for Penny and her family, for John Vinton and George Day, on whom the responsibility for services and the spiritual life of our Church now falls, and for our Churchwardens, Jenny Holton, John Vinton and Val Simpson, and for Trefor Jones, all of whom have increased responsibilities. Pray that we may keep open hearts and minds as we start to look forward to preparing for new leadership for our Parish.
